MRN CONSTRUCTION - ROB SCIMIA

Dear Consumer,
If you are looking for a home builder or home renovations BEWARE of MRN Construction of Pleasantville/Thornwood NY. The owner is a good talker, promises everything, may or may not deliver. Leaves out many details like "Oh, you want shower doors?" (Duh you knew it was a stall shower with the plans indicating glass enclosure Mr MRN... Kaching another $2200) and by doing so low bids BUT then you pay more to "UPGRADE" the poor quality materials he put in his bid.

If you are looking for fast, rushed shoddy work then hire MRN! I am very sorry I did. Would never recommend this small one man shop. I am not the only one who has had serious problems with this contractor and I am in the process of sueing him for leaking windows, poor taping job, horrible paint job, uneven floors, kitchen cabinets he received that were defective and hung unevenly! Shall I continue?

REMEMBER: DO NOT USE MRN CONSTRUCTION unless you like problems.

  2. I just googled MRN so that I could send contact info to a friend and was surprised to find this review. Rob is finishing up a large construction project for me right now (three floors -- basement, family room, then 2 bedrms above -- plus a mudroom off the kitchen) and I have nothing but positive things to say about him, his guys, and his subs (especially the plumber). MRN's bid was in the middle of the 4 bids but his was the most thorough offer, down to regrading and reseeding my lawn from where the port-o-potty was! The moldings are beautiful, everyone likes the tile work, and every time the village comes to inspect something, it goes real smoothly. It's too bad about the above folks' problems but I had to write as my experience has been fantastic and I have recommended him to my friends and neighbors.

    1. Obviously you are a family member that wrote this. Maybe a friend. Your rebuttal is too specific as if he told you what to write. YOU ARE FUNNY! If he was "finishing up" a large job for you, you didn't have his contact information? You didn't see him or have his cell phone? Come on. Don't insult us.

  3. I would have to agree with the above comment..I've had Rob do numerous jobs at my house and will continue to do so as needed. I've had nothing but positive experiences with him and his business. Everything always goes smoothly. As said above sorry to hear about your experience but I will continue to highly recommend him to anyone I come in to contact with. His work is truly fantastic.

  4. I must say when I saw this I thought it was a little far fetched and not truthful whatsoever. I had Rob and his crew complete a project for me as well, and I have nothing but good experiences with him, his workers, and his subs. He's a standup guy whenever he said he was going to do something he did it. Whenever there was a problem he took care of it. And now that it's been 2 years we still maintain a friendly relationship.

    1. Richie S. If you are a real customer with a history with MRN, what motivated you to find this blog? Why would you be looking for this blog? Mostly, why would you google MRN Construction to find this blog if you were happy? Unless you have a crush on him. Maybe the project you had him do for you was to build a shed for your garbage cans. But far fetched? Why are there THREE (3) Civil Lawsuits on MRN Construction? Why would someone spend all that money to sue if MRN Construction was that good and din't make a total mess of the project?? Why are there so many unhappy people with MRN's work and very few that actually thought he did/does a good job? PEOPLE, DO YOUR RESEARCH IF YOU WANT TO HIRE MRN CONSTRUCTION. I wouldn't. "N"

    2. Yes I am the same person to write the reply to all responses that have a reply. I happen to have been curious and came to this site.

People that are looking for information should not be thrown off by friends or family of MRN Construction, the owner Rob Scimia.

The comments I make are accurate and true. I am the original blogger. "N"

  5. I hired MRN Construction in Dec 2011 and it was a medium job. OMG I agree with the first people writing. Horrible work and left dirt all around. I would not recommend him. His attitude was kinda bad too when I asked him to clean up and everything was extra costs. As if he did not do his homework. Seems like MRN can go either way but I wouldn't be able to recommend him to anyone in good conscious and there are so many other qualified contractors I should have shopped around more. Instead of listening to my friend that knew him or of them maybe I should have gone to Angie's List to find a better contractor than MRN or Rob Scimia, the owner. Live and learn from bad experiences.
